Launched in 2012, MTM Awards was created as an incentive to recognise Asian, Black, and Ethnic Minority communities in the South West of England, who had often been overlooked by local award ceremonies. Over the years, MTM has become a beacon of hope, shining a light on the diverse achievements of businesses, artists, fashion and hair designers, creatives, and community organisations.

In 2016, MTM opened its doors to international participants, welcoming its first nominee and award dinner guest from Kenya. Since then, we have proudly hosted nominees, artists, and guests from across East, Central, and Southern Africa. MTM has provided a powerful platform for businesses, individuals, creatives, and international communities who might otherwise have gone unrecognised.

In 2022, MTM launched World Kiswahili Day at the House of Lords in London—an historic milestone that celebrated the Swahili language, culture, and heritage. Building on this success, we introduced the Sema Jambo Awards in 2023 to honour culture, fashion, business, and Swahili-speaking communities across the UK, Europe, and globally—including nations such as Oman and Yemen.

Every season, MTM invites individuals and delegations to join our celebrations. We also arrange unique meet-and-greet opportunities with like-minded diaspora communities, fostering unity, cultural exchange, and international connections.

Our doors remain open to regional, national, and international participation.
